The Newstatesman BK Articles with comments

Post by fluffy bunny » 10 May 2007

The Newstateman, a political magazine, has published a series of articles by Mauren Goodman. They are open for comments to be posted without membership required. One of them already has a messaged posted by "Charoo". I wonder if that is the same Charoo that is a surrendered sister in London where Maureen is?

On all four, the next comment has been removed.
This organization is a danger to all who is getting involved and has my great concern. There is more going on as you can see on http://www.brahmakumaris.info. (suicide, child-abuse, fraud, mind-control etc.)

Documented incidents of child abuse within the organization brushed aside by leaders as due to the bad karma of the children suffering sex abuse and outside of their responsibility, the perpetrators avoid punishment or reporting to police.
* Social and psychological problems faced by ex-followers including two suicides within one family.
* Rape and physical violence from families and partners of Brahma Kumaris.
* Questionable advertisement of relationship with United Nations Organization. [4]
* Name changing from University to Organization.
* Discreet historical revision and re-writing of their " God's " spoken word to avoid controversy, to accommodate increased world population, to change speculation over the timing of destruction of the world and other matters.
* Self-proclaimed " University " status not recognized by any external authority.
* From a theological point of view, B.K.s claim that the Hindu spiritual scripture Bhagavad Gita is actually the teachings of Shiva and that it is misinterpreted by other Hindus and that the current version of the Bhagavad Gita has been modified and enlarged by human beings.
* Beliefs that they are the only true and direct representatives of God.
* Beliefs that they, and only they, are angels, or are training in order to become angels, and that their senior practitioners are already well developed as angels so as to appear in visions or traveling around the world in their angelic forms; that they are the inspiration of the form of angels throughout all of history and art.

Is this kind of censorship usual or acceptable for a site like the New Statesman?

Maybe pictures should be taken of posts before they are removed as proof.

BKWSU screenshots

Its true. If you are dealing with the BKWSU, you have to take screenshots. Let's build up a gallery.

Its probably best to adopt a gentler approach though. An independent magazine is in a difficult position but has a responsibility to provide a balanced report. What we saw with BK Borat at the BBC is that, of course, he was a BK using the BBC to advertize BK events without disclosing his interests and he used the old BK trick of different names looking like different organizations that to anyone not that interested look genuine. The BKWSU has a very good record of PR and media manipulation. It would have to to steer such extreme ideas and ideals to the very top of society.

One cannot STATE "child abuse" especially, because it is too legal threatening, unless it is recorded somewhere, e.g. court, police, newspapers. I do not know how well the "shock and awe" approach works. You might just frighten potential supporters away because the BKs appear so reasonable (and are willing to be dishonest). Its probably best to study the BKs own approach and use it. Softly, softly catchee monkey ... plant a few seeds and let them germinate ... allow the other individual to come back when they are interested. I would not exploit their honeymon stage though.

You can refer to "allegations of" but child abuse, rape, fraud etc are very strong allegations that could get one in court unless one can prove them because the BKWSU has not been found guilty of any of them by a court of law. "Innocent until proven guilty" as the old saying goes, even if you know it to be true. These legal words we use have very specific, sometimes different meanings to the law and are hard to "prove", so best be careful. Its probably best sticking to what you have good evidence of, like the points of Knowledge.

But sometimes it does works and is necessary to crash through the front door and having a direct fight with them, blowing their cover royal-style. The other party just does not want to be involved and throws BOTH parties out. So you can "win" by "losing", gain a Phyrric victory. It is good for the BK spiritual growth.
