Suicide - a tragic outcome

Ranjana Patel RIP

London 1993: Ranjana was a strong, alive, creative spirit from Gujerat. She was a ’surrendered’ sister - to newcomers she was one of the inner sanctum, part of the establishment. Ranjana had been “in Gyan” (knowing the Truth) for about 7 years.

Ranjana was a young woman. She fell in love with one of the other members. However one of the main tenets of the Brahma Kumaris is celibacy and she and he broke that vow. She was devastated by a profound sense of guilt and failure, the wanton loss of her eternal fortune, and now to spend eternity among the lower castes. This, because she had fallen in love.

Ranjana was so devastated by her feelings of guilt and loss she jumped off a four story building. Unbelievably she survived, although sustaining significant injury. Later she disappeared. Someone randomly identified a photo of her in a local paper. It was a mortuary photograph of an unidentified body that had been lying on a cold slab for three months unasked for. This time she had succeeded by jumping off a five story building.

The Brahma Kumaris teach that making love is like throwing oneself off the 5th floor of a building and that was exactly what Ranjana did. And she was right, nobody cared. Not even the BKWSU Seniors with whom she had lived and worked for years, the very people who had preached to her about love and kindness, and enlightenment and service.

BKWSU’s management were so indifferent to Ranjana’s death that no effort was made to ensure that others of their membership did not suffer so badly. Shockingly and incomprehensibly Ranjana’s brother Sharad threw himself under a train a few years later. He was a member for many years but always believed himself not good enough – not pure enough, not yogi enough – the stress of the unreasonable expectations that had been imposed on him by the teachings of the Brahma Kumaris had killed him.

The BKWSU have no duty of care policy or exit strategy. After 70 years of inculting genuine, well intended and intelligent people they have devastated thousands of lives whilst preaching the same spiritual rhetoric that killed Ranjana and Sharad and many others.

Our reason for being here is to attempt to persuade the management of the Brahma Kumaris to introduce an effective duty of care policy and exit strategy to transition and help existing and departing members. Their official line, in keeping with the Founders’ teachings, is that anyone who leaves is a traitor and should be treated accordingly. Thus far we have been ignored, as were Ranjana and Sharad.

AUM Shanti.
Introducing myself first, I am a believer and supporter of BK Knowledge. But I have no contact with BK institutions since 1993. But still I believe and churn the Spiritual knowledge given through BK institution. The following is my personal opinion.

I think this whole page and hence the reason of this website is just to malign Brahma Kumaris. And these are the people who think that they know and understand LOVE and are practicing it in their life. And according to these people LOVE = SEXUAL INDULGANCE. So foolish and immature thinking.

I think Ranjana was not a child but a mature lady and when she adopted the life of celibacy as preached by Brahma Kumaris she knew what that means. And if at some point of time in her life if she had felt that she cannot continue with the life of celibacy or that celibate life is not necessary for her to evolve spiritually, being a mature lady she should have left the BK institution legally and respectfully and got married. The story of Ranjana presented here is half truth. Ranjana did not lose her virginity by herself. There was someone, some man involved. But nothing is written about that man in this page. Who was that man? When did he join BK institution. When and how did he came to know about Ranjana. How did these two became intimate. What is the background of that man? What were his INTENTIONS while joining BK institution? What happened to him after Ranjana lost her virginity? Where is he now?
It is difficult to write anything about this scandal without knowing the complete truth.

I quote from this page, “The Brahma Kumaris teach that making love is like throwing oneself off the 5th floor of a building and that was exactly what Ranjana did.”
Well, sexual indulgence is to be refrained from according to the teachings of Brahma Kumaris. But taking literal meaning of what is said about sexual indulgence and using it as teachings of Brahmakumaris is a very cunning way of presentation. Anyway, the picture I have seen in the BK’s literature shows that ego is the last obstacle of the five vices that a human being has to win over before experiencing True Peace, Bliss and Love. And if a person develops ego then he /she is bound to fall (like falling from the peak of a mountain or is similiar to falling from the top of a five floored building).

I quote from this page, “And she was right, nobody cared. Not even the BKWSU Seniors with whom she had lived and worked for years, the very people who had preached to her about love and kindness, and enlightenment and service.”
Brahma Kumaris are repeatedly made cautious about the worldly people who are more interested in sexual indulgence and actually have no True Love for their well being. There is no reliable information about whether Ranjana approached senior BK teachers for help after indulging in sex.

I quote from this page, “He (Ranjana’s brother) was a member for many years but always believed himself not good enough — not pure enough, not yogi enough — the stress of the unreasonable expectations that had been imposed on him by the teachings of the Brahma Kumaris had killed him.”
Another ill intended conclusion made in this website. It is clearly said in the GodFather’s teachings that every human soul is numberwise and not equal in their resolves. And it is also said that every soul is great because in their true nature they are peaceful and blissful and pure. And that The GodFather has come to make us remember our true nature. And it is said that although every soul is nuberwise still every soul is important in it’s own place of service as is a small piece of nut in a big machine with heavy parts.

I quote from this page, “She (Ranjana) was devastated by a profound sense of guilt and failure, the wanton loss of her eternal fortune, and now to spend eternity among the lower castes.”
In the above sentence the writer has purposely and maliciously twisted the teachings of The GodFather. The GodFather has said that all people in the end of this world cycle becomes shudras i.e., of low caste. And The GodFather by giving knowledge of Soul and Himself He transforms Shudras of this world into Brahmins or Prajapita BrahmaKumar(/i) ( i.e., The children of Prajapita Brahma).

The GodFather BaapDada has said, “Not only the citizens of Bharat but all are Prajapita BrahmaKumar Kumari, the children of Prajapita Brahma. On the contrary people of the whole world all are. Everyone call Prajapita Brahma as Adam. Know that He is the first head of human creation (humanity). The establisher of humanity.” (from Murli dated, 30-1-87)

And it is said that there are people of all kinds doing different chores of life even in heaven. And that even though all are happy in heaven as they are soul conscious still there is difference on the basis of the degree of purity they have achieved in this end times of the world cylce by being a student of The GodFather. The people who talk about equality are fooling people with their nice talk. This world is filled with diversity in every field and in every aspect of life. Each according to his /her resolves is different. And each according to his /her resolves is suitable for different chores of life. But the key to happiness is being soul conscious which leads to unity in diversity. The egoistic people cannot understand this because although such people speak of equality through their mouth they are more interested in dividing people in their heart in all possible ways. Each plays his /her part according to their resolves. What can anyone else do? Let these people too play their part.

I quote from this page, “Their official line, in keeping with the Founders’ teachings, is that anyone who leaves is a traitor and should be treated accordingly.”
I request to the people visiting this website to go to a BK institution and understand what is said and in what context. Many things are said about those people who lose faith in the The GodFather. But in this website they are presenting half truth about those statements and by twisting what is said. Yes, it is said that anyone leaving the GodFather after holding His hand is like a traitor. But it is for those people who in their heart know that The knowledge given is true but just because they cannot follow what GodFather tells them they start opposing The GodFather and His knowledge. It is also said that souls give divorce to The Supreme Soul because of the worldly attractions even after recognising Him. It is also said to uplift the people who have left the study of GodFather’s Knowledge for some or the other reason by doing their sevice through knowledge and bring them back to student’s life.

I quote from this page, “After 70 years of inculting genuine, well intended and intelligent people they have devastated thousands of lives whilst preaching the same spiritual rhetoric that killed Ranjana and Sharad and many others.”
If somone is prejudiced then the person cannot even see the plain truth in front of him /her. Ranjana and Sharad’s life was not ended by the teachings of Brahma Kumari’s but by the rhetorics of such people who have started this website. These people who want to equate sexual indulgence with Love join the people of USA in questioning the conduct of the ex-President Bill Clinton when he had sex relation with another lady. If SEXUAL INDULGENCE = LOVE then why is pornography illegal? Why is it stressed that Mary was a Virgin when she gave birth to Jesus.

My last simple question to all: Why are you FALLING in LOVE. Why are you not able to RISE in LOVE ?
If you are not able to RISE in LOVE, then please keep your mouth shut and stop your rhetorics about Love and sex, because you do not know what is Love and even do not know what is sex.

Thanks.
Sanjeev.

Sajeev, I wonder what advice you would have given Ranjana if she had come to you for help?

3. Sanjeev wrote October 6th, 2008

AUM Shanti.
Bap-Dada (The GodFather) has said that put full stop to what has happened. Beeti so beeti (what happened has happened). Forget it and proceed further. Bap-Dada’s helping hand is there for those seeking for it. Believe in what The GodFather has said that ‘YOU’ are Peaceful, Pure and Blissful soul in your true nature. You have forgot your true nature. Everyone is numberwise. It is drama. Each one has to make his /her pot full. No need to see how much other’s pot holds or what other is doing. Bap-Dada has said that par chintan patan ka jad hai. Thinking and worrying about others is the root cause of downfall. I am what I am. And I am Peaceful and Blissful soul in my true nature. This vicious world is to change and Heaven will be established in near future. If you have lost faith in Bap-Dada then you can live your life according to your wish. You may leave the BKWSU institution with respect. But think thousand times before you take this step. Rest, is your wish.
Thanks.
Sanjeev.

Dear Sanjeev and Venkatesh. I note that you defend the teachings and institution with enthusiasm. You demonstrate the one dimensional and reductionist thinking that is typical of someone who has been inculted. You quote from the Murli as if it were your own opinion - you do not have your own opinion, only a view of yourselves and the world that has been indocrinated into you.

You demonstrate no understanding of basic human psychology and believe that BKWSU rhetoric will suffice in its place.

Human emotion runs much deeper than you can understand - “past is past” is not enough for a traumatised person. It is typical BK ignorance to think it is.

Ranjana and Sharad were real people - they are not anomolies to be dismissed by your arrogance. Do you really think that she had not heard the rubbish you spout in your post?

You spout the same nonsense that I would hear from any BK. You just say the same thing they all do - meanwhile you fail to realise that you have been inculted and that your thinking and logic are stereotypical of the BKWSU - your mind is trapped in a tiny bubble and you can no longer see the big picture.

You pick and choose teachings to suit yourself - it is perfectly clear in the Murli that it is definitely not okay to leave. The Murli is clear that to leave is to fall, to lose fortune for Kalpa after Kalpa, to suffer the torture of Dharmraj. Nowhere in the Murli is there permission to leave. As the BKs believe that the Murli is the direct teachings of God, not even Dadi Janki can contradict it. No senior BK can give permission to leave because that permission is not given in the Murli.

And for your information I was BK for almost 20 years. I had several personal meetings with “BapDada” and was the “nimit” for 15 centres and hundreds of BKs. I can tell you from long experience that have no real idea what you are talking about - you just repeat what you have been taught like little children. You are victims too - you just can’t see it.

6. bkpavitra wrote October 11th, 2008

Dear Soul,
I if you were a BK for past 20 years and had meet BapDada several times it means you were also like Sanjeev and Vekatesh who used to spread BK Gyan and protect the institution. Now after Ranjana’s case you choose to leave..you also believed in Karma Theory once…you tought thousands of souls this theory…can we take it in this way that it was all Karmic account and your concern for Ranajana is appreciated but if Seniors are not taking care of the juniors than juniors must understand that they have not become “Perfect” still they are Purushaarthi.I am not protecting any senior but writing all these as a well-wisher.Baba has never said that follow brother or sister, but follow Father.May be I am not in Gyan since 20 years but I can say that u r a special soul who managed 15 centres. Can you tell something about you in detail, why you leave BK life.BK Pavitra

7. editor wrote October 17th, 2008

Yes I agree - I was also inculted and did the same to others. I will not pretend otherwise. Equally, I did it on behalf of my masters - Dadi Janki and Jayanti and co. They represent the BKWSU as an organisation and as such have responsibility for the “behaviour” of that organisation - notably duty of care. This is a responsibility they refuse to accept.

I did not leave after Ranjana took her life, as I only understood it according to BK doctrine - fortune, karma, Drama etc. I left because I realised that all was not as it seemed - that to stay would be fruitless.

A ’senior’ BK does not leave on a whim. It took years of continuing disillusionment for me to leave.

I can understand what happened in retrospect. But the thing that has stood out for me most of all is the lack of responsibility the BKWSU, as an organisation, accepts for its actions.

If the BKWSU were conscious of its responsibility, showed real concern, expressed the compassion it preaches, and practised spirituality, Ranjana would not have suffered, and neither would the thousands of ex-BKs who suffer also.

Instead we have only seen fundamentalism and arrogance - this was apparent when the BKWSU tried to shut down our forum (http://www.brahmakumaris.info) - the only meaningful help ex-BKs get!

As a BK you cannot comprehend the trauma that the vast majority of ex-BKs experience - especially in the West. The real problem is that Dadi Janki, Sister Jayanti and others simply refuse to acknowledge that such trauma exists. They won’t even listen. We are only ignored. That is why we have to build sites like this. If Janki and co cared even slightly about what happens to the thousands of Family members who have left, we wouldn’t need to be here. This site is proof that they are inconsiderate, self absorbed and ignorant. It also helps to establish that the BKWSU is a cult.

Om Shanti
okay if your complaints are only against Janki Dadi, BK Jayanti Didi and Seniors than why ahevyou left BapDada??Do you still read Murli or no connection with Gyan?
As I told am not 20 your old bk but I understand one thing if someone else has commited a mistake than let him/her only suffer why should you suffer because of others mistakes.
I agree some Seniors are ignorant but they also had Seniors and might have suffered like you but they didn’t left. Why shoul you leave the family?

Sanjeev,Venkatesh and Pavitra. I have been advised by my ISP that you are all the same person sharing the same IP address. It is unfortunate that you cannot be a genuine contributor to this discussion and in fact just waste valuable time. You have shown how deceitful, dishonest, arrogant and just plain stupid you and BK supporters are. You have simply proven our case.

You have also been guilty of the same misconduct on our sister site brahamkumaris.info where they had to block your access.

Any future posts from you will be deleted, so kindly don’t waste your time or ours.

AUM Shanti.
Dear Editor,
I quote you, ” Sanjeev,Venkatesh and Pavitra. I have been advised by my ISP that you are all the same person sharing the same IP address.”

I have been banned from your site Brahmakumaris.info just because I questioned your intentions and gave explanaion to your doubts about BK institution’s intentions as per my own thoughts ans as what I felt correct.
The pretext you used to ban me from that site was same as you have given here. although I even do not know Venkatesh and Pavitra and even they do not know me. We are all from different places might be even from different countries. But as you cannot bear the Truth about BK Knowledge and are prejudiced with your bitterness towards BK’s you are responding to us with such words.
I quote you, “It is unfortunate that you cannot be a genuine contributor to this discussion and in fact just waste valuable time. You have shown how deceitful, dishonest, arrogant and just plain stupid you and BK supporters are. You have simply proven our case.”
Your words above speaks of your intentions.

I quote you,
1) “Equally, I did it on behalf of my masters - Dadi Janki and Jayanti and co.”
2)”And for your information I was BK for almost 20 years. I had several personal meetings with “BapDada” and was the “nimit” for 15 centres and hundreds of BKs.”

From the above two quotes it is clear that you never understood BK Knowledge. You must have been an imposter who joined BK’s not for The GodFather or His knowledge but for fulfilling your worldly ambitions of fame and name and might be even for money and luxury. And you served Dadi Janaki and sister Jayanti to get your ambitions fulfilled, as you yourself have written that Dadi Janaki and Sister Jayanti were your masters. Such a pity. You are not the only one, there are many like you in the BK institution who are serving their respective masters but never understand The GodFather Shiv or Bap-Daada. They all are to be disillusioned one day like you.

I hope you will try to understand ShivBaba and serve yourself by following His directions (Shrimat) inorder to uplift yourself. My opinion is that you are wasting your Precious time and your energy and money in defaming BK instituion.

Thanks.
Sanjeev.

AUM Shanti,
I have not answered to your allegations because I think it is waste of time in trying to wakeup someone who is pretending to be alseep. You know what mistakes you have done and are doing but your selfish motives and your ego is not allowing you to accept your faults.
I truly hope you get well soon and understand The GodFather.
Thanks.
Sanjeev.

13. editor wrote October 30th, 2008

Sanjeev, you have expressed typical BK sentiments for all to see. No doubt you believe yourself to be completely right and that your opinion is the truth. This is typical of any cult member. You also say that I am sick - thus you wish me to be well. We are only left to conclude that anyone who leaves the BKs is, according to you and BK philosophy, sick.

It is my experience of the BKs that anyone who does leave has only left because of the disease of Maya - they are trapped in the illness of seeing themselves differently to you and BK philosophy.

And of course, this includes “selfish motives and ego”, of which you, as a BK, are free from?!

14. Sanjeev wrote November 4th, 2008

AUM Shanti.
Dear Editor,
Everyone feels himself to be right. Including me and you. We are no exceptions.
What is the way out?
It is said in our language, ” Tanu ariyada novilla, Man ariyada papavilla”, meaning There is no pain which body does not know and there is no sin which mind does not know.
I do not want to go in detail of it’s meaning, what I want to say is that our mind knows what sin we are doing. We have to be True to ourself. It is the only way to understand Truth. If we start deceiving our own mind, our mind will get trained to deceive and will later start to deceive ourself. And being true to myself, what I feel is that the BK institution has a goal i.e., to establish Heaven or Paradise. And The One behind this mission is The Supreme Soul, The GodFather. And the means to establish Paradise is Knowledge of Self i.e., Soul, because by becoming soul conscious we get connected with The Supreme Soul. Now, whether you go to Bk’s institution, whether you wear white clothes, whether you change your food habits, whether you remain celebate is secondary. Yes, not everyone can follow all the desciplines told in the BK institution. But that does not mean that I should not try to understand knowledge and should not try to become soul conscious. Once you start your study and start practising to become soul conscious, you will yourself experience that the desciplines told in the BK institution helps you in your practise. And if you are a true student of the BK knowledge, you will try your best to follow the desciplines as much as you can. Nothing will happen in minutes. Rome was not built in one day, is it not? Simiiarly you cannot become soul conscious and GOD conscious overnight. It needs efforts. True whole hearted efforts. Getting admission to a University and engaging in enjoyment will not get you a degree. You can remain in the University campus till your death, but you will not get a degree. To get a degree, you have to study, do efforts and pass in the examination.
It is not important since how many days you are in the BK instituion or to whom all you are close to. What you need here is get close to your own self i.e., soul inorder to get connected with The GodFather.
Everything else has no importance.
There are people like you who join the institution with their own motives and when something goes wrong in fulfilling their motives then start blaming the institution.
I am not saying that there are not any people in the instituion who are not selfish and motivated by their own cause other than the Institution’s intentions. There are such people. I am not in support of such people. Such people are to be unmasked and if possible booked.
It is good you put off your mask yourself. Now see yourself in the mirror of your mind. And question yourself what is it that you want? Do you really want to know yourself and The GodFather? If yes then whole heartedly study the BK knowledge. If not leave it. It is just that simple. And to study BK knowledge and to practise meditation you need not go to BK Institution. I am not going to Bk institution since 1993 onwards. But still I am studying the knowledge and practising meditation. And progressing at my own pace.
And if you are more interested in unmasking the cunning people in the BK instituion then whole hearted congratulations by me in Advance. You can unmask such people better than me because you know how people behave while wearing a mask.
Best of Luck.
Thanks.
Sanjeev.

Dear editor, I want to quote the above from your posting on dt.22nd Oct. 08.
I do not understand what made you to conclude that we 3 are sharing the same IP. If your ISP had advised you, then to the best of my knowledge, neither your ISP, your site nor your comments are genuine.
In addition, if you do not want any one’s views that are against to your opinion, you are welcome to delate the postings from the site. You may also block our access to your site. We have no objection on it.
But I can say that you have no right to make baseless and unnecessary allegations against us.
Please think again with cool mind and do the needful.
